Vintage Racer 23

L & L Choppers built this modern version of a boardtracker for Rob, which is not exactly a rookie in the motor world. After a series of sports bikes Rob decided that is was enough with the fast bikes. Therefore, he decided to switch to a Yamaha Wild Star, which was rebuilt in the style of Big German Thunderbike. But Rob was not satisfied about the handling of such a thick rear wheel and also that much chrome really was not for him. “I wanted to go back to basics. Back to the leaking, crackling oldtimers! One particular type then moved his heart: the boardtracker!”

Custom triple trees

At L & L Choppers we make triple trees based on the client’s wishes.

These triple trees are for 41mm fork tubes, normal wide-glide width, because we’re building choppers with small fuel tanks and with these matching small triple trees.

Highneck for Filip

L&L Choppers builds all styles, from old skool to modern. Filip from Belgium at the right place by L & L Choppers to build a typical American chopper with a Jesse James look! A highneck frame with single downtube was tailored around a reliable TwinCam block.

Fun features include a oiltank with sight glass and a specially designed tank. Long, tall and skinny, and it had to be an ultra slim front fork because it fits beautifully in this picture! Real eye-catchers are the machined aluminum wheels with skulls. The highneck is not yet finished, but the looks are already good!

L&L builds its own frames

A good start is half the battle. L&L understands that all too well! Therefore, these North-Holland choppers freaks design their own frames and also building is done in-house. Only so can the highest quality be guaranteed and for a good price. Something which remains to be seen for other aftermarket frames. therefore L&L Choppers explicitly has none wholesale frames in their catalog!

What you will find in the ever thickening L & L Bible are the well-known AttacKits for Sporters, which can be obtained in a bobber and chopper version. Do you want a customized frame for your classic Harley, your Evo or Twincam? Of course, no problem. L & L Choppers makes the frames as desired by the customer, provided it is technically justified, of course. The sky’s the limit when it’s up to the L & L team and we don’t make a fuss about a bit more or less Rake or Stretch. A single downtube, dropped-seat or swing-arm frame?

Ask L & L Choppers for the possibilities.

The most important invention of mankind!

The most important invention of mankind must have been ‘the wheel’.
Every self-respecting bike-builder takes the type of wheels (and tires!) seriously in the design of a chopper. Spoke wheels give a different look to a chopper than a set of ultramodern billet aluminum wheels, right?

L&L Choppers offers specially machined rims with skulls, tribals and many other conceivable graphics. Powder coating is available in all colors of the rainbow. Also, there is plenty of choice of sizes. Go for a chopper look? Then you might want to have a 21 incher in front. In our stable we also have a board-tracker with two 23-inch wheels. Or is it a racey look that you want to go for? Or do you want to cruise around whith such an impressive 360 mm rubber under your butt?

L&L Choppers delivers rims in all shapes and sizes. Do you have any doubts?
You don’t have to reinvent the wheel!

Craftsmanship at L&L Choppers

Furniture makers , clock makers , blacksmiths … Fewer and fewer people understand the art of old skool craftsmanship, which requires a pair of big callused hands, smart thinking and a creative mind. This craft is also needed for building choppers like the way they used to do it way back. Those days, there were no shelves packed full of ready-made chopper-parts… let alone AutoCAD and CNC machines.

L&L Choppers believes that traditional craftsmanship should never be lost. Because… what is more unique than a hand-fabricated bike?

The young chopper builder Paul proves that this way of craftsmanship isn’t just reserved for old gray bikers. Everything his eyes see, his hands can make. He prefer doing things the old skool way. Latest acquisition – or should we say “oldest” – is a rock-solid and conventional milling machine from 1945. It’s antique distribution-table is something that Paul has cracked his brains about… “But it works just as well as modern digital equipment,” says Paul, who also made tools himself to make concave- and convex parts on the lathe.”…A wonderful tool to make large rolls for a powerful pipe-bender. Very useful for making frames,”  says Paul , who makes tools to make ehh… tools.

Do you, just like us, fancy traditionally built choppers?

Frisco style chopper for Onno

onno-14_
Onno is the owner of an optically modified Harley-Davidson Night Train that he really wasn’t using anymore. The standard Harley was simply not exciting enough and did not stand out in Onno’s garage. For years, he has been dreaming of owning a custom made chopper.

During a visit to the Bigtwin Bikeshow 2013, Onno met with L&L Choppers and explained what he wanted. Of course, L&L had no problem sharing his vision.
It was decided to keep the Twin Cam 88B engine, the gearbox and several other parts from the donor bike. The frame had to be a slim dual downtube hardtail with a straight line between the headstock and the rear axle.

Based on these wishes, L&L cleverly designed a frame along the lines of their Sportster Attackit. The frame is usable for several types of chopper and bobber bikes and can accommodate virtually all big twin engines. Which means that engines and gearboxes from Softails, Dynas, FXR and Touring models will fit.
The rest of Onno’s chopper will be built in Frisco Style. It will be a slim bike, with a small tank mounted on the backbone and practical details. Although this style sometimes included mid controls, we will be using forward mounted controls in view of the customer’s size.

Magnificent Bastard

Owner Jeroen says:

A Biker for 24 years…….I have always been riding a custom style motorcycle.
Not a Harley but certainly the type. Now the circumstances appeared to make the dream reality. I am a long time fan of the bobberstyle. Finally I decided to make the dream come true with cooperation of L&L.

Due to the fact that I like to ride a lot of miles, the choice came down to a softail instead of a hard tail, what, in fact for me, is the essence of a bobber . But sometimes you have to make concessions for riding comfort. That is also the reason for the 200 rear tire to ride  corners more easily. A slightly wider angle on the front springer, with the biggest possible wheel to match the back, creates a better esthetic line. The short fender is chosen to show the 200 rear wheel. Definitely my vision. From the start it was clear to me that chrome is not an option. I’d rather drive, than wash my bike. The engine is from the donorbike and is a standard 1200 sportster with 5 gears. The exhausts are deliberately kept long to give it that long look and because I am not a small man.

Because I like smooth round lines, the fender struts are curved . The rest of the bike is kept minimalistic. The handlebars give a more upright seating position wich gives it a more comfortable riding position. The colors will be chosen in a later stage but will be in accordance with the base color of the rear wheel.
All together the bike I imagined is being realized.
In loving memory to those who are no longer here to see the dream come true.

Wassel

Vintage chopper fans will recognize the Wassell peanut tank.
In the sixties and seventies, this fuel tank was the no #1 choice for every true chopperfreak. Over the years, this little tank even earned a iconic status! Nowadays, the Wassell peanut has a true come-back. Skinny and sleek is the norm again, and on the toptube of every retro lane-splitter belongs a Wassell. However, It takes hours and hours to find an Original on eBay, which probably costs a little fortune as well… Luckily, the aftermarket jumps in on these needs of the modern bikers and there are perfect looking reproductions being made of this classic fuel tank.

L&L Choppers (of course) have these Wassell-style tanks on the shelves. We already offered the Wassell chopper (A) and the Wassell bobber (B) style fuel-tanks. But now we also have the Real Deep version (C).
