On this project we’ve made everything thicker for the customer. A 200mm front tire with an extra thick and wide springer and a softail frame with extra thick tubes. Not to mention a 1600 cc Panhead block and a 240 mm rear tire.
From Old Skool to Modern, here at L&L Choppers we’re building all kinds of styles. Filip from Belgium came to the right place, L&L Choppers, to build a typical American chopper with a Jesse James look. A highneck with a single downtube frame that was custom-made around a reliable Twincam block.
Some time back the plan, to buy a beautiful Harley, occurred to me. First I wanted to pick something standard but after some orientating and looking around at other shops, L&L was still the place to be. When I entered the shop, I was immediately sold. I wanted a chopper that would be built by L&L. Since I myself am not technical this seemed like it was the best idea.
Tim was on holiday in Spain and to kill the time he was reading a biker magazine. Then his eye fell on a cool, old skool bike: a bike with a raw industrial look, when his eyes were drawn onto the pierced ape-hanger. Once in the Netherlands, he knocked on the door at L&L Choppers with the Spanish magazine under his arm.
Sunday the 1st of Easter L&L Choppers in Opmeer threw their doors wide open to welcome spring. Last winter, L&L Choppers has been busy and there were a number of finished an rough-finished bikes ready for them to show with pride. Onno was the owner of a slightly modified Harley-Davidson Night Train that he didn’t really ride much anymore. The standard Harley was not exciting enough, in part because Onno owns several motorcycles. At the same time, it has always been his dream to own a real chopper. But such a bike had to be precisely what he had in mind. The chopper had to be built from scratch and have a slim hardtail frame forming a straight line between the steering head and the rear axle.
Frank’s Buell has had a complete metamorphosis. From one extreme, a naked racer, went this American to the other extreme, a chopper! However it hasn’t lost any of its aggressiveness. The hardtail racer with streetfighter look is finished and for this we are in the Brabantse Rijen for Frank’s first ride and photos.
Jeroen has been nearly a quarter century devoted to custom bikes. A Harley has always been his dream and finally the circumstances allowed this to happen. A bobber speaks to him the most and at L & L Choppers his dreams became true!
Igor is a customer from Italy with a Dutch mother, that comes in handy to translate his wishes. After going through the parts we could use, this became another great hot rod for the traffic in Italy. And with the use of the minimal parts, it really became a crowd pleaser.
L & L Choppers built this modern version of a boardtracker for Rob, which is not exactly a rookie in the motor world. After a series of sports bikes Rob decided that is was enough with the fast bikes. Therefore, he decided to switch to a Yamaha Wild Star, which was rebuilt in the style of Big German Thunderbike. But Rob was not satisfied about the handling of such a thick rear wheel and also that much chrome really was not for him. “I wanted to go back to basics. Back to the leaking, crackling oldtimers! One particular type then moved his heart: the boardtracker!”
